This is where you'll find James... I mean games, some digital and some not-so-digital. Play them if you dare... to have fun!
Horror Pixel Jam 2017
I'm working on a game for the 2017 Horror Pixel Jam with my procedurally-generated character and story-driven RPG. Check out the dev blog here, where you can test out the current version (at the time of this writing, it's just a demonstration of the walking controls)...
The Live Action Story Telling system is the game engine that will break RPG's as you know them. Play whatever type of character you want, in whatever world of whatever genre, with no rules and a single d20. It's the LAST game you'll ever want to play.
Free basic rulebook currently available, with more coming out every month!
The "prequel" to the L.A.S.T. system, it's a bit more complicated, but for those need more structure than the freeform L.A.S.T system, there's an entire wiki of rules to use across a number of different genres.
A randomized RPG system that uses playing cards instead of dice.
A detailed space combat game, prototype to the Star Captain collectible card and miniature game, coming soon!
The first RPG I wrote 20 years ago, the ESPER role playing game is essentially the Hero @ Heart system specifically geared toward the horror genre. Here it is, in all its glory, for you to finagle with.
Foundations of Darkness
A bestiary of horror creatures to use with the ESPER RPG.
Star Captain RPG
A sci-fi variant on the Hero @ Heart system.
All you wanted was to have a nice picnic lunch at the beach, but those bloody seagulls ate it. Now, it's time for payback. Sneak up and eat those little punks, while avoiding their poo. Your score is reflected in how fat you become, and your health meter is the amount of poop visible on your shirt. Have fun!
Unfortunately, a lot of my greatest works have been lost, from the ZORK clone I made at 6 on a Commodore C64 to the early Sierra-style adventure games and a Doctor Who platformer made in Game Maker Studio a long, long time ago.
My favorite of these I can't find anywhere anymore: Psi Arena, where you play a captured psion fighting in an arena (in the sky, for some reason, with floating billboards, for some other reason) filled with laser-blasting drones. You could grab enemies with a mouse click and either throw them, use them as a human shield, or just hold them in place and blast them till they ah-splode. You could also raise a shield, speed up, slow down, or even reverse time, explode a psychic bomb, and paralyze or possess enemies...
Here are all the remaining games I could find online. Not all of the download links may work anymore...
